July 2014, By the Numbers:
Last updated August 26th, 2014
Days on the road: 38 days (since June 26th)
Miles driven: 6,364
Passes: 34 (Wauconda Summit, Sherman Pass, Granite Pass, Fourth of July Pass, Lookout Pass, Lost Trail Pass, Willow Creek Summit, Malad Summit, Nebo Summit, Emigrant Pass, Ghost Rock Summit, Pine Ridge Summit, Coal Bank Pass, Molas Summit, Red Mountain Pass, Cero Summit, Blue Mesa Summit, Monarch Crest Summit, Trout Creek Pass, Wilkerson Pass, Ute Pass, Powder River Pass, Sylvan Pass, Teton Pass, Pine Creek Pass, Galena Summit, Blind Summit, Banner Summit, McCall Summit, White Bird Hill, Lewiston Hill, plus a few unnamed passes)
Unique trails seen: So many! We'll figure out a total eventually. (We saw new trails in the Kettles and Selkirks, the Wasatch, Arches and Canyonlands, Mesa Verde, the San Juans, Minnesota, the Black Hills, the Bighorns, the Sawtooths, and beyond...)
Unique miles of trail: TBD (We might eventually figure that total out...)
Races volunteered and/or run: 3 (Kaniksu 50, 4th of July Ultra, Hardrock 100)
States: 12 (Washington, Idaho, Montana, Utah, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota, South Dakota, Wyoming)
Animals seen (in no particular order): Bears (black), Moose, Deer (mule, white-tail, black-tail), Cougar (Kerri's first!), Pronghorn Antelope, Skunks (mostly dead on the road), Marmots, Weasels, Voles, Chipmunks (myriad, all named Francisco), Mountain Goats, Elk, Bald Eagles (juvenile and mature), Hawks of indeterminate heritage (our eyes are only so good), whatever we're still forgetting...including probably a Yeti and maybe an alpine Nessie or two.
Serpentine belts in our possession: 3. (Long story. Blame the Black Hills?)
Sleepless (or mostly sleepless) nights: 5. Both for weather-related reasons and trail and/or race related reasons.
Hugs given: 312, approximately. We do love our extended/chosen/adopted family something fierce.
